University Is Now In Session

Freedom for All Americans is working in municipalities and states across the nation to ensure every American, regardless of where they live, is protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

This is a huge task ahead of us, and we need dedicated and well-trained individuals working with us to accomplish our goal. That’s why Freedom for All Americans created LGBT University. LGBT-U is a new and innovative training program to develop and support current and future nondiscrimination campaign leaders and staff.

We're Building a Movement to Win

We'll Do This By

Apprenticeship Program

Our year-long apprenticeship program will provide participants opportunities to learn critical skills like campaign organizing, communications, staff management, voter data and targeting and leadership development from some of the best and brightest movement and allied leaders.

Issue & Skill Trainings

Trainings will equip participants to tackle the movement's growing needs, including everything from lobbyist and communications trainings, to classes on how to build coalitions, to fundraising efforts.

Campaign Trainings

LGBT-U's trainings are specifically tailored for individual campaigns for staff teams, volunteers and allied organizations.

Movement Job Bank

We'll connect qualified apprenticeship program graduates, job seekers, and movement leaders and staffers with active campaign jobs.

LGBT University Alumni Biographies

The alumni of LGBT University come from across the country and a wide variety of employment fields; however, all share the same goal: to learn how to build and execute campaigns for comprehensive non-discrimination protections. From field work and finance to volunteer building and media training, our alumni come away with the tools needed to build the future generation of leaders in the non-discrimination movement. You’ll likely see our graduates on the front lines of any number of non-discrimination campaigns nationwide, whether city, county, state, or federal.

So far, LGBT-U has graduated three cohorts of apprentices. Take a look at their profiles below, and feel free to contact them with any questions about the program, or, if you happen to be in their area, ask about programs or campaigns you can get involved in.

Donate to LGBT University and Help Train the Next Wave of Leaders for LGBTQ Non-Discrimination!

There's so much to do in the national campaign to secure explicit comprehensive non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans. One way Freedom for All Americans Education Fund is pushing forward is by building a strong and robust team of advocates – including through our LGBT University program, an innovative training program to develop and support current and future nondiscrimination campaign leaders and staff.

Fifty-four apprentices have graduated from the LGBT University program, and we need your help to expand the program. Your support helps Freedom for All Americans continue to train the future leaders of the movement for LGBT equality from all across the country. With the lack of protections and the many risks millions of LGBT individuals and families face each day, LGBT University creates leaders that are on the front lines fighting for equality.
