Action Alert: Tell Your Representative to Vote No on Anti-Transgender NDAA AmendmentBy Adam Polaski • July 13, 2017 • 1:18 pm
A new amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act has been introduced in the United States Congress with the aim of denying medically necessary health care to transgender people in the U.S. military and their family members.
Within hours we could see a vote on this terrible discriminatory amendment, and we need you to take two minutes to register your opposition to this vile attack.
Here’s what to do:
- Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202)-224-3121, press “2,” and find your Representative.
- Urge your representative to vote against Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s amendment to the NDAA that aims to deny medically necessary healthcare to transgender service members and their dependents.
- Need a script? Here’s what to say: “I’m calling to let my representative know that I strongly oppose Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which would strip our country’s transgender servicemembers and their dependents from medically necessary healthcare. We should be supporting our servicemembers – not subjecting them to blatant anti-LGBTQ discrimination. I urge my representative to vote NO on Rep. Hartzler’s amendment.”
- Spread the word by clicking here to tell your friends and urging them to take action.
Two weeks ago we celebrated the first anniversary of the Department of Defense announcing that transgender military personnel could at last serve openly – this amendment to the NDAA is an attempt to undermine that progress and drag our country backward.
We have to block this discriminatory amendment. Please call your representative at (202)-224-3121 (press “2” once you connect), voice your opposition, and then click here to share with your friends.
